Alcon Refractive Suite – EX 500 Laser and Femtosecond Laser

We offer laser vision correction surgery utilizing the latest in laser technology – the Alcon Refractive Suite. The Alcon lasers use advanced WaveLight® technology which created a “map” of your eye and captures all of its features, enabling Dr. Khosrof to get optimal results. Some of the benefits of using this technology include greater accuracy, smoother treatments and the ability for multiple treatment options.

The WaveLight® EX500 Excimer Laser

The EX500 Excimer laser is the fastest excimer laser available today – operating at 500 Hz. It provides not only the fastest multidimensional eye tracker, but also delivers a precise pattern of pulses to the cornea which reduces the risk of halos and glare at night. The laser can also measure and monitor the thickness of the cornea during and after the procedure. Additional benefits of the EX500 Excimer laser include:

        • Increased speed
        • Less drying of the cornea during the procedure
        • Greater patient comfort
        • Minimization of swelling
        • Reduced recovery time
        • More consistent results

The WaveLight® FS200 Femtosecond Laser

The FS200 Femtosecond Laser provides the fastest flap creation times – approximately 6.0 seconds. The flap is tissue on the outer layer of your eye (cornea) which helps promote better vision, rapid healing and comfort. It also makes the flap creation process more precise and safer.

By combining a small focus with low pulse energy and a distinct cutting pattern, a more precise and accurate flap is created.

Refractive Intraocular lenses

Refractive Intraocular lenses are used to correct refractive errors, and helps you achieve sharper vision. We are pleased to offer different types of refractive IOL’s.

Types of Intraocular Lenses (IOLs)

Conventional IOLs are only monofocal, offering patients vision at only one distance (far, intermediate or near), and still requiring them to use corrective lenses to compensate for other distances Now, there are new multifocal IOLs available, which provide patients the ability to see well at more than one distance without the use of glasses or contacts. Some examples of multifocal IOLs include:

AcrySof ReSTOR® IOL

One of the most advanced multifocal IOL’s is the AcrySof ReSTOR IOL. This revolutionary innovation provides patients with quality vision both near, far and in-between. For many patients, glasses or bifocals aren’t needed.

AcrySof ReSTOR IOL’s will not be recommended for the following types of patients:

        • Patients with psychiatric disorders
        • Patients with a history of seeing glares while driving at night, even before having a cataract
        • Patients with unrealistic expectations about their results

ReZoom IOL

ReZoom IOL’s are the second generation to the Advanced Medical Optics multifocal IOL. It provides a full range of vision and greatly reduces a person’s dependency on glasses or contact lenses.

ReZoom is designed with five unique visual zones with the sole purpose of providing clear vision for different focal differences and lighting environments. Research has shown that ReZoom lenses have shown a 92 percent success rate in reducing and/or eliminating patients need to wear glasses.

You may be a candidate for ReZoom IOL’s if your vision is progressively becoming more blurred or if you are having difficulty reading and require bifocals.

TECNIS IOL

TECNIS IOL’s are multifocal lenses that provide high-quality vision in any light condition or at any distance. Results from the TECNIS IOL are superior to those of standard lenses and increases a person’s ability to have clear vision without the need of glasses. Studies show nine out 10 patients receiving TECNIS IOL’s do not require glasses.

You may be a candidate for TECNIS IOL’s if you have difficulty seeing objects up close, have trouble reading, you experience glares while driving at night, your prescription changes often or you require bifocals while reading.

Crystalens® IOL

Crystalens IOL is an accommodating lens implant, not a multifocal lens implant. Our eyes naturally age making it more difficult for our eyes to accommodate their focus as we perform different daily activities like reading, cooking and driving, thus requiring most people over 40 to wear glasses. This is referred to as “loss of accommodation” or presbyopia.

The Crystalens is specially designed with a hinge that moves the optic part of the lens back and forth as you focus on different objects. Crystalens IOL’s offer amazing results! Nearly 90 percent of patients with Crystalens IOL’s are able to see clearly at any distance without the use of glasses or contact lenses.

AcrySof Toric

The AcrySof Toric lens is an astigmatism-reducing lens that has proven to significantly improve distance vision in cataract patients with astigmatism. Its foldable design makes it possible to reduce and even eliminate the corneal astigmatism.
